Through the Latest West Virginia University's Clery Report, we find out that there was a decrease in sexual violence last year. The University Police Interim, Phil Scott believes that this is due to the Covid Pandemic. Because of the pandemic, there was an overall decrease in students on campus. Also, because of the Pandemic, there were no activities that would normally bring in large numbers of campus crimes. This includes their annual Fall Festival and the Food Festival. Domestic Violence and Rape cases also both decreased. During the past 2 years, there were no incidents concerning dating violence that were reported. Even though the sex offenses have decreased, there was an up rise in stalking. Stalking went up by 56 % during 2020. During last year, the cases increased from 9 to 14. As part of their homecoming week, many of the organizations at WVU are speaking out about sexual violence. Soon; there will be a sexual assault tailgating, and a silent witness exhibit to honor the women who were killed by domestic violence. Many of their proactive ways of trying to solve the issues concerning sexual violence were made possible by the Big Twelve Sexual Assault Prevention Grant.

It is good to see change actually occurring, especially dealing with major issues such as this one. Their programs hopefully will cause a decrease in sexual violence, and hopefully will also decrease the rise in stalking cases as well.
